This policy explains what we do with the information you give us when you enquire about a trip, book one, or travel with us. It is written to be read, not to be skimmed past.

Afsou Travels is a private tour operator based in Morocco, arranging tailor made journeys, treks and private tours. In data protection terms we are the controller of the information described below. You can reach us at info@afsoutravels.com.

2. What we collect

Only what we need to answer you and to run your trip properly.

When you enquire

• Your name, email address and telephone or WhatsApp number
• Your country of residence
• Your travel dates, the length of trip you want and the size of your party
• What you would like to see and do, and your approximate budget
• Anything else you choose to write in your message

When you book

• The full names of everyone travelling, as they appear on their passports
• Passport or identity document details, where accommodation or an internal flight requires them
• Dietary requirements and allergies
• Medical conditions or mobility needs, where you tell us about them so we can plan safely
• Your emergency contact
• Your flight details, so we can meet you
• Your payment reference and the record of what you have paid

Automatically, when you visit this website

Standard technical information: your browser type, your approximate location from your IP address, the pages you looked at and the time you spent. This is generated by the web server and is used to keep the site working and secure.

3. Health and dietary information

Information about your health, your diet or your mobility is treated with more care than the rest, because the law treats it as a special category. We collect it only when you volunteer it, we use it only to plan and run your trip safely, we pass to a riad or a guide only the part they need to know, and we delete it when your trip records are deleted.

We share the minimum necessary, and only with the people who need it to deliver your trip.

• Accommodation in Morocco: the names of the guests and the nights booked, plus dietary needs where relevant
• Your guide and driver: your name, your itinerary, your arrival details and anything affecting safety
• Activity and transport providers, such as a desert camp, a cooking school or an internal flight
• Our bank and payment providers, to receive and refund payments
• Our accountant, for the financial record
• A professional adviser or an authority, where the law requires it

We do not sell your information, we do not rent it, and we do not pass it to advertisers or to data brokers. We have never done so and we do not intend to.

6. Where your information goes

Your trip happens in Morocco, so the suppliers who receive your details are in Morocco. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, that means your information leaves that area. We share only what a supplier needs, we ask them to use it for your booking and nothing else, and our email and website systems are held with providers who apply recognised safeguards.

Wherever you live, we will honour these:

• Access: ask us for a copy of what we hold about you
• Correction: have anything inaccurate put right
• Deletion: ask us to erase your information, where we are not required to keep it
• Restriction: ask us to stop using it while a question is resolved
• Objection: object to our using it on the basis of our legitimate interest
• Portability: receive your information in a machine readable form
• Withdrawal of consent: at any time, without affecting what we did before

Write to info@afsoutravels.com and we will reply within 30 days. We do not charge for this. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom you may also complain to your national data protection authority, and in Morocco to the CNDP.

9. Cookies

This site uses only the cookies it needs to function: a session cookie while you use the site, a cookie set by our caching system so pages load quickly, and a cookie remembering whether you are reading in English or French. There are no advertising cookies and no cross site tracking.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site will still work, although your language choice may not be remembered between visits.

10. Security

The site runs over an encrypted connection, access to your booking details is limited to the people working on your trip, and payment card details are never stored by us. Cards are handled by the bank or the payment provider, and we see only a reference and the amount.

No system is perfect. If a breach ever occurred that put your rights at risk, we would tell you and the relevant authority promptly rather than quietly.

11. Children

Families are welcome on our journeys, and we hold children’s names, ages and dietary needs as part of a family booking made by an adult. This website is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from a child directly.

12. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of the page. Where a change materially affects how we use your information, we will tell the people it concerns rather than rely on you noticing.
